This is a very rare vintage reference model, the original CK 859 AF from late 1930s just before WWII. There are many vintages claiming to be a jumbo at a mere 36mm, this is a massive 38mm case in near mint condition. The in-house manufacture movement presents in near mint condition as seen. The CK 859 was launched in 1939 with the celebrated Calibre 30T2 with a small seconds, this SC (Secondes Centrale) version with an in-direct center seconds is a far rarer model as it was more costly to produce and often for medical or aviation purposes.
The collector who acquired this watch paid a staggering USD$9000 to a supposedly famous dealer on IG as this watch is supposed to be a new old stock in mint condition. Unfortunately for him, under our careful examination and 34yrs of experience, we concluded that the dial and hands set are refurbished but to a very high standard. As such, the value dropped tremendously and he was too distraught to return the watch but sold this to us. This Omega is now available to you for a far more reasonable price point now and it is indeed a very attractive vintage watch that ticks all the right boxes. It will be very difficult to find another vintage CK 859. Omega did produce a small run in 2022 of this model with a small seconds hand.
Very few examples of this have been sold online and this is one good example from Japan in a similar condition that was delivered to Germany in 1939.
The watch is doing +/- 7 secs/day in a few positions which is fantastic for a nearly ninety years old movement and it takes about 12 winds to full power reserve.
A very attractive vintage Omega in true jumbo size that’ll accompany you for many decades to come. We took an image with a regular vintage Seamaster for size comparison and you’ll appreciate the girth of this.
Further 3% discount for non-credit card payment as usual.
