Description
Pre-owned. No box or papers but watch was returned to factory for a complete restoration.
Introduced in 1969, this Omega Flightmaster chronograph was designed for pilots. It follows the same futuristic case design of the Speedmaster Mark II that was the result of a NASA Lunar mission request. This case was machined from a single block of steel down to 43mm and this and was nicknamed “helmet” and this would be used by several other models including diver’s watches and this case was reintroduced again in recent years.
The Flightmaster is a complex watch with three crowns, two pushers and seven hands. The screw-lock back cover features the engraving of a Douglas DC8 jetliner.
This watch was returned to Omega factory for a complete restoration at a cost of S$1818.60 with a receipt dated in June 2019. The case is original and refurbished while many parts were replaced including all pushers, crowns, balance wheel, gears, glass and gaskets while the bracelet is a new old stock replacement from Omega. The watch is now in tip top condition and sparingly worn for a few times since. It takes about 30 winds to full power reserve. The lower left crown with black enamel dot adjusts the internal 60min ring in bi-direction. Upper crown on left with blue enamel dot adjusts the blue GMT hand with lume. This watch retained it’s original T Swiss T dial, an important component for watch enthusiasts as a service dial is frowned upon for period correctness.
There are many for sale but few would have received this major job done by Omega for a peace of mind.
