Anonimo, 44mm “Dino Zei Nemo Chronograph for Porsche Club” Ref.11000 Limited Edition of 100pcs Gulf Oil Racing colors in Steel

New Old Stock. Comes with complete original wooden box+outer box, manual & undated paper. This is a special limited edition made for the Italian Porsche Club 911 & 912 register and only 100pcs were made with one piece possibly kept by the factory so only 99pcs are in circulation.

The dial is painted in the livery of the famous Gulf Oil company who was the major sponsor for Porsche’s racing seasons during the early 1970s LeMans 24hrs. Together with JWA Gulf Team, Porsche won their first LeMans 24hrs with the legendary Porsche 917s that took the championships in 1970 & 1971.

These watches are fitted with a modified Valjoux calibre 7760 movement and the automatic rotor system was removed, leaving it as a manual winding movement (Thinner case) while the day & date retained it’s quick-set functions. However, when we received the last 8 pieces, we realised that the back cover is signed as “Automatic Chronograph” which is a mistake and we requested the factory to correct them as these lot was purchased from the authorised dealer. It took over six months for the new covers to be made & returned while the individual limited edition nos were engraved on the inside of the covers (we do not know which watch has what nos now as they are resealed). These are possibly the only 8 pieces in existence with the correct back covers for the watch as some dealers advertised these as automatic chronographs which are obviously wrong & the authorised dealer who supplied us Anonimo has closed down so the story probably ends here for these watches. Meanwhile, the factory also corrected the water resistant rating to 5ATM/50m instead of the 10ATM/100m as claimed before since the watch is sold with a normal crown unlike diving watches that has a screw-lock crown.

So, here you are. These are very special watches for the collectors and especially those who are Porsche fans must have one. We kept one too 🙂
