Description
Vintage. No boxes or papers & a Passions box will be given. The factory archive certificate accompanies this watch.
A handsome Vacheron & Constantin Geneve-Suisse Hunting cased pocket watch in heavy solid 18ct Yellow gold case. Fitted with a beautiful guilloche dial with hard enamelled markings. The markings on these dials were engraved plates with the black enamel paint filled in, fired, brushed & polished before being painted so they last almost an eternity except the silvered surface that ages over passing of time.
This watch is almost a century old now & counting. According to the Extract from the Archives issued by VC, this watch was manufactured in 1927 and cased by the factory with accompanying hallmarks, stamping and numbered. This is a factory tripled-signed example on the movement, dial and case with matching numbers which is desirable.
As always, this watch has been examined by us and research done before releasing for sale.
This watch weighs a hefty 113gram and the gold value alone with movement would be in excess of S$8000 today.
It takes about 12 winds on the crown to full power reserve & the large balance beats with a wonderful ticking sound. Case is in near mint condition throughout with no signs of serious dents nor marks and of course micro hairlines are easily picked up on polished surfaces. The bow (crown ring) and hinges remain tight and hunter cover springs open with vigour.
Overall, this is a very elegant pocket watch in an exclusive hunting case in excellent condition and a heavy weight for it’s class.
Vacheron & Constantin is the oldest watch manufacturer in continuing production since 1755.
