Description
Vintage. No box/papers & a Passions box/pouch will be given.
Made between 1930-40s, this is a very desirable and charming vintage chronograph by Tissot with a complex steel case, a Calatrava style flat bezel, olive pushers and movable lugs. It has a multi-scale dial typical of 1930s chronographs and fitted with a very coveted Lemania manual winding movement Cal.33.3 that was configured by Tissot. Such exotic style chronographs were very popular in the Pre-War era and made by many brands from Omega to Rolex, Ulysse Nardin, Breitling, Eberhard and all the notable brands.
This watch is in excellent condition with no major dents nor wear. The case has definitely been polished as it’s over eight decades old but lightly as it retains angular edges and is exceptional for its age with no rust while movement still shines and is free from corrosion. Takes about 20 winds on the crown to full reserve, the watch keeps time well but when the chronograph is active, it tends to jam up which happens to old stopwatches and this can be fine tuned by a competent specialist but this watch is sold as-is where-is as our workshop doesn’t have the time to handle such old watches as it can take months to tune it. Complications that are over 50 years old tend to have worn out components and certainly not waterproof, it is more so on Pre-war watches so you must look after them like old classics and manage your expectations.
This is a lovely collector’s item in a wonderful and original condition. Priced low for the collector.
