This Rolex Ref.2940 Oyster Perpetual Chronometer Bubble-back dates to 1945 & presented in very good condition. This watch is fresh to the market for the first time since the early 1990s and belonged to a collector for over three decades but hardly ever worn during those years. The champagne gold dial is an older restoration on an original plate done to a very high standard that matches the stick hands and this will fool most present day dealers. It is no doubt a beautiful dial and collectors of present day will favour this over an aged original.

The steel case had been lightly polished over the decades with wear marks and lugs remain thick. It is notable that there’s no corrosion observed and case integrity is very good. Movement is clean and rotor shines like new which is a great sign and will continue to serve you well for many decades to come as long as you take good care of it. The bracelet is a vintage from 1st quarter of 1965 as noted on the date stamp on the clasp and this bracelet was made by C&I for the US market (Worth US$1K). There is a tiny “starburst” fracture on the acrylic but we left it as it is and will replace this upon request.

This Rolex bubble back is as old as WW2 and about eighty years old now. It brings us great pleasure to offer good vintage watches like this. It is not water resistant nor shock-proof so don’t drop or splash it with water.
