C.1950s Rolex vintage ladies Ref.9180 Steline dial with star indexes in rectangular 18KYG case

Vintage. No box or papers but a vintage non-signed blue velvet box is given.

The art of Rolex watches are not limited to just their design but their dials play an integral part of their desirability. This fine lady’s watch from early 1950s is fitted with one of the most desirable dial with star indexes aka Stelline dial on the quarters that only appeared during 1950s and it can even be found on the incredible Ref.6062 Oyster calendar with moonphase that was sold for US$1.57million in 2019.

Well informed collectors are aware that any Rolexes with special features on their dials are always sought after.

Our watch here is in splendid condition. The movement was serviced, the solid gold case has only been lightly polished and retains the important engraved crown on the case back. The hallmark on the case band is visible while the original acrylic crystal shows some stress marks due to age but we left it as it is and a new crystal can be custom made. The original dial is aged but in very good condition with all prints intact and the appliqué gold indexes shining. The bracelet is a French made period vintage in heavy gold plating known as gold filled as these were easily 40 microns and above.

A highly collectible and a very rare watch for the discerning lady collector. Finding one with stars dial is akin to searching for a needle in the haystack & sets one apart from the plebeians.

Sensibly priced & the gentleman may want to pair this up his collection.
