This Tank Must de Cartier Vermeil was first introduced in 1977 and has since been an integral part of Cartier’s collection, offering an affordable entry level watch to attract new Cartier clients. The case is made of solid 925 Silver and plated to 20 microns gold hence it is named Vermeil (pronounced as Ver-mail) otherwise known as silver gilt.
This is a ladies version which makes it one of the smallest Tank to feature a hand-winding mechanical movement and is a collector’s item today as production ceased in the late 1990s.
It is simple to maintain and will accompany you for decades bearing in mind that these are not water-resistant watches. This remains an affordable entry to the fascinating world of Cartier luxury and the Tank is enjoying a rennaisance recently with the renewed interest among international dealers and collectors. A current Tank Santos Dumont in Platinum is selling for S$60K.
