Description
Vintage. No box or papers and a Passions box will be given.
This vintage Rolex was manufactured for sale in the UK market hence the 9ct gold case. The case was made in England by Dennison ALD with Birmingham assay office hallmarks and letter “B” for the year of manufacture which dates this watch to 1951/2.
It is fitted with a standard Rolex Cal.710 movement with 15 rubies and a sweep center seconds in very good condition as seen. The dial is an original with the small crown and shows light patina with radium full Arabic nos. The lume on the hands are modern refill and glows in darkness but the tip for the minute has fallen off a little and can be replaced entirely by watch makers for a small fee.
A delightful vintage watch for the collector with a desirable dial that doesn’t hurt the wallet too much. It takes a 16mm lug size strap and has an original Rolex gold plated buckle that comes with the sale. It takes 13 winds on the crown to full power reserve and lasts for about 40hrs and keeping time well but it is certainly not water resistant with the snap back case and this watch is over seventy years old.
Imagine someone who would’ve purchased this gold Rolex in the early 1950s from a jeweller in London and just a few years after WW2.
