A very pretty vintage watch from 1940s. Helvetia has it’s roots traced to the founder of Omega by Mr Louis Brandt who registered Helvetia in 1848 well before registration of Omega later in 1903. At one time, Helvetia was one of the largest Swiss watchmakers, manufacturing more than 100,000 watches a year and had collaborations with Audemars Piguet in producing their minute repeaters!
So here we are, one that’s produced by their parent company General Watch Company. It is triple signed throughout on the case, movement and dial. The back cover of this watch has a unique ratchet style screw-lock back cover in steel. Case has some wear but in original condition which is wonderful for a 80yrs old watch. The dial is original with charming patina from the radium nos & matching hands. Movement shines and functions very well.
A good history on this company can be found here for reading interest.
Great bargain for a beautiful vintage. Please have a look at the close-up of the signature here and admire the fonts they used.
