IWC 40mm Rare Ref.3537 “GST Alarm” automatic date in Titanium

One owner’s watch from new. This Ref.3537 GST Alarm is a rare model and collector’s item now. We have only sold a couple of pieces over the last 3 decades and although not the most popular model, this is a very practical watch to have as there are very few alarm function wristwatches and they can be set up to remind your appointments or morning call in a mechanical way. Something that has lost to the digital world but you can relive it now with this watch.

The time-setting crown is @ 4 o’clock which screw-locks while the alarm function crown @ 2 o’clock does not lock. This is a manual wind up alarm with a second main-spring so do not over-wind this and pull to set the alarm time just as how you would do on your clocks and push it in again. The alarm will ring once time meets the pre-set alarm according to the red tipped hand. It rings pretty loud and pull the 2 o’clock crown out to stop the alarm sound.

Most alarm watches are cased in classic designs but this version by IWC offers a refreshing, modern and avant garde approach with a Porsche-Design influenced case under the now defunct GST collection and made in titanium with matching bracelet.

The original retail price of this model was US$4995 in 1999 when the Portuguese Chronograph Ref.3714 was retailing for US$5950.
