Description
Vintage. No box/papers.
This is a New Old Stock “barn find” that survived WWII and almost 90yrs old today.
This incredible watch belongs to one lot of watches that were recently discovered by an overseas dealer & we have carefully selected three of the best pieces as some have aged dials & damaged cases. This watch is in mint condition & never worn. It takes about twenty winds to stop which is a lot and meant that it’s with the original mainspring.
They are completely original watches retaining it’s original thick plastic crystal that didn’t yellowed. The case numbers are engraved on the back & signed by Doxa inside while the movement is tonneau shaped & in perfect, fresh condition which is protected by a brass dust-cover which serves as the anti-magnetic shield as well. There are some sporadic micro black spots on the dial due to age and not readily visible to the naked eyes.
Stainless steel cases were rare for pre-war watches as the material was difficult to work on with the limited technology available back then so most watch cases were made in softer alloys such as silver, gold or brass then plated. Most of these watches were heavily abused & corroded over time but our specimens here are still fresh waiting for their first owner. The lug size are only 14mm and we would recommend to custom a Bund style strap to boost the size visually or simply add Bonklip bracelet for that period look.

Doxa is a reputable watch manufacturer from Switzerland. They made many exciting watches in the past including high complications & even had cloisonné enamel dial watches. Like all Swiss firms, they were badly affected by the quartz revolution few decades ago.
