Description
Vintage. No box or paper.
Fresh to the market for the first time in over two decades. This is a beautiful and rare classic Precision watch in solid 18ct gold case by Rolex and produced from the mid 1950-60s period before the introduction of the Cellini collection in 1968.
Watch has been polished and shows some wear over the decades while the serial numbers are still legible on the back cover. Upon opening, you’ll be greeted with a shiny movement in tip-top condition. The original dial shows light patina and in very good condition for its age while the hands shows pitting over the passing of time. The watch is fitted with a pair of modern but used original lizard strap & 18KYG buckle. The solid gold lugs have male pins that require special hollow pin-bars and we will supply a new set upon changing the strap. The acrylic crystal shows some scratches and we have polished it to improve visibility.
This is a very good looking dress watch that rarely surfaces for sale.
The movement Calibre 1200 was introduced in 1954. 1210 has the center seconds, 1215 with a date feature and the last upgrade was the 1225 with a higher beat at 21600 to improve accuracy. Production ended in the late 1980s. This was the workhorse movement that was supplied to all gents’ manual winding models of Rolex watches.
Wind 16x to full power reserve and works over 50hrs which is quite a feat for a movement from seventy years design.
