Vintage Movado Circa 1930s Jumbo Art Deco style Rectangular Tank for retailer “JE Caldwell” manual winding in 14KYG

This vintage Movado is an exceptional watch with it’s large proportions as most watches of it’s time were small. The unusually long, Art-Deco inspired rectangular case has a curved back with stepped bezel. It is fitted with a high-grade chronometer spec movement that has 17jewels, adjusted to temperature and gold chatons for it’s jewels that is found in Lange and Sohne watches.

This watch was a special commission by James E. Caldwell of Philadelphia (J.E.C & Co), an American retailer which was founded in 1848 and signed on the dial in place of Movado. The case and movement are stamped with Movado throughout.

There are two small letters W.E engraved on a corner of the back cover which is probably the initials of an owner.

A very beautiful watch in excellent condition and it simply oozes class that few can match for this little price.
